I have recently returned from a short break to Jersey with my 10 month old baby, this October half term. As a new (and often panicky) mum I was a bit apprehensive about our first overseas holiday but I am thrilled to say from start to finish it was a breeze.
A short flight time of 50 minutes makes Jersey a perfect destination for families with young children. You have the distinct feeling of being abroad without the stress and hassle of a lengthy flight, long queues at passport control, worrying about sourcing baby milk/food once in resort and of course time/severe temperature changes.
My family and I stayed for 3 nights in The Grand Hotel and Spa and we could not have been made to feel more welcome. This beautiful 5* hotel is located on the main seafront in St Helier. My baby indulged in a 5 course breakfast each morning and seemed somewhat disappointed when we got home and all that was offer was a Weetabix!
Whilst there we hired a car and set about exploring this wonderful island. This gave us the Freedom we needed with having a baby and my little boy managed to catch up on some sleep after his late night swims in the hotel pool! Driving in Jersey is so easy as its the same side on the road and having a car allows you to discover some of Jerseys hidden gems. Although the Island is only 5 x 9 miles you do get lost but that’s part of the fun of it!
The highlights of our trip were –
🌟Plemont Bay
🌟Durrell Wildlife Park
🌟The Jersey War Tunnels
🌟St Brelades Beach
🌟Gorey Harbour
🌟Seeing the Jersey cows!
🌟Breakfast and the pool at the hotel (My baby would have been more than happy to have never left the hotel)
Humberside Airport offer 7 night holidays to Jersey May to September, alternately Doncaster offer short breaks all year round.
