Jersey by Sam

I have been selling Jersey for 12 months now and always used brochures and my colleagues knowledge and experiences to help me advise our customers, so to able to visit for myself was a real treat, but nothing could have prepared me for such a wonderful break.

After an amazing hour and a half flight (Just enough time for a quick glass of red!) we started in St Brelades Bay which is a breath taking horse shoe cove that’s hugged by beautiful restaurants and hotels.  Its a small resort but definitely a place I could see myself holidaying at.  Romantic beach strolls, rock pools to explore and beach fronted restaurants.  This place is beautiful!

We then moved on to Jerseys ‘capital’ St Helier.  Another beautiful sweeping beach, promenades to walk, busy town markets, abundance of shops and restaurants, this really is a great base.  Everything on your door stop and the public transport is regular and inexpensive to get your around the island.

We stayed in 2 hotels over the 3 nights, both in St’ Helier.  Firstly the Radisson Blu that afforded amazing sunset views over the sea and was newly refurbished in contemporary colours and had a lovely welcoming feel.  We made full use of the hotels pool and the location was fab.  We then stayed at the Royal Yacht, Prime location just off Liberation Square.  They had a popular bar area that gave it a lively feel.  Again décor was a high standard with a contemporary feel.

The diversity of Jersey really surprised me, its cultural, beautiful and educational.  We hired bikes and cycled to neighbouring St Aubins which gave us beautiful views across to St Helier and we stopped off for afternoon tea!

Key places we visited and would highly recommend…

Jersey War tunnels:  This was a fantastic experience.  You travel through the war years and get a taste of what life must have been like.

Gorey Castle: Full of modern art instillations, spend hours travelling from room to room discovering the weird and wonderful and being just 12 miles from France offer amazing views once you get to the top!

Durrell Wildlife Park:  Beautifully well kept wild life park, featuring everything from Silver Back Gorillas to Meer cats this really is a lovely day out.  Educational too so great for children and keepers are around to answer curious questions

(See! I told you it was diverse)samjersey

All in all Jersey far exceeded my expectations.  Its ideal for all ages.  Its modern yet steeped in history and whether you want trendy bars, classic Michelin star restaurants or traditional home cooked food, it will cater for everyone.
